Description:

I created an interactive powerpoint with Microsoft Powerpoint 2008, This project allows for an engaging, media enhanced learning experience for students to explore, see and work with slope and how it works. A choice board is the next screen after the above image where students can start with "Step one", and then navigate through to "Step 6", taking guided notes along the way. The students start off this activity by watching a video on slope in the real-world: where it's seen, the different types, etc. As they proceed to the next steps, they will learn about increasing, decreasing, horizontal and vertical lines, and the different types of slopes each has. I created screencasts for each of these concepts in which students can look, listen and work with each type of slope. At the end of the steps, students will take a mini-quiz on what they learned. Instead of giving a "wrong answer" if chosen incorrectly, the students will receive a "hint" that leads them to the right answer. This took careful though and design when creating the slides and hyper-linking them appropriately. I feel that this project allows students to learn independently and with the engagement of media design.

Student Viewing Sheet:

I have attached my guided notes sheet that I would have my students use keep of where they were in the activity. It consists of fill in the blanks that go along with the videos that outline and identify key vocabulary and concepts. The videos also have screen shots of the vocabulary blanks that correspond with the notes sheet.
